Student Helper Recruitment for Mental Health Project


The Mental Health Projects Team at the Division of Public Policy at HKUST is seeking student helpers to support a 3-year research and service-based mental health project targeting ethnic minority communities, including Indian, Pakistani, and Nepalese families and elderly, as well as non-Chinese Hong Kong youth aged 15-24.


We are Hiring for Two Streams:


Stream ONE: Event Support and Outreach Assistant


  • Manage logistics for outreach events across various districts in Hong Kong, including attendance monitoring, participant engagement, and event coordination.
  • Provide on-site logistical support during activities and events of varying sizes (e.g., NGOs, schools, religious centers).
  • Engage with trainers and participants to ensure event success.
  • Handle event registrations, attendee communications, and post-event follow-ups.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.



  • Availability for non-office hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Fluency in Urdu, Hindi, or Nepali is a significant advantage.
  • Compassionate and passionate about interacting with diverse participants in various forms of activities.
  • Having an interest in, or possessing knowledge of, mental health.


Stream TWO: Desk Work-Related: Administrative Assistant

  • Support administrative and logistical duties, including but not limited to data entry, communication material preparation, and execution of activity rundowns.
  • Design presentation decks for outreach meetings with corporates, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  • Create activity posters and social media engagement materials.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical project support.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.



  • Strong written communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear and engaging content for websites or social media.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • On-campus working is expected.


Engagement Details:

  • Duration: One-year period.
  • Start Date: Negotiable, immediate start preferred.
  • Commitment: Availability for at least 8 hours per week; 2-3 working days per week.
  • Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed as student helpers within the HKUST system.
