The Mental Health Project Team at the Division of Public Policy, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,  has been invited as a guest speaker for the upcoming workshop on ' mental health first aid, active listening, and emotional expression' hosted by H.K.S.H.K Outreaching Team for Multicultural Community.

This program is tailored for families in ethnic minority communities and seeks to improve your and your kids' listening skills as well as help them communicate their emotions in a healthy way. Improved communication, comprehension, and problem-solving within the family dynamic can result from active listening, which can promote a positive and open relationship between parents and children.

It is essential for kids to learn appropriate emotion-management techniques since doing so enables them to develop social-emotional abilities. Children who are socially and emotionally aware and skilled are better able to negotiate relationships, control their emotions in trying circumstances, and solve problems. Effective emotional self-regulation is facilitated by developing warm, supportive interactions between parents and children as well as encouraging the open expression of pleasant emotions.

The program also features an overview on the fundamentals of mental health first aid (MHFA). You will learn to recognize the signs of mental health disorders and to use fundamental management strategies to support people with psychological disorders.
