'Community Wellness Advocate' Training Program Completion

A Day of Knowledge Sharing and Building Bonds

The Mental Health Projects Team at the Division of Public Policy, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the 'Community Wellness Advocate' volunteer training program. Held on November 4, 2023, at the Clear Water Bay campus, the day was filled with eager learning, fruitful conversations, and shared experiences, embodying the ethos of the project and the spirit of intercultural understanding.

A vibrant group of more than 20 volunteers, hailing from diverse ethnic backgrounds and spanning a wide range of ages, had the opportunity to delve deep into various aspects of mental health and community wellness. The serene ambiance of the university setting provided a conducive environment for learning and interaction, especially significant for the many volunteers who were embarking on this journey with a deep desire to contribute to society.

A key highlight of the day was interactive activities focused on cultural diversity. These activities gave volunteers a chance to engage in meaningful discussions and foster a palpable sense of unity and respect. The air was filled with their shared stories and insights, a mix of laughter-inducing anecdotes, and wisdom-filled narratives.

Throughout this training, the team had a unique opportunity to listen to the volunteers' motivations and aspirations. It was a humbling experience to hear about the challenges they wish to address, their visions for a healthier society, and the defining moments that have shaped their commitment to this cause. The volunteers shared valuable insights on how understanding and advocating for mental health can contribute to building a better society.

The training concluded on a high note, filled with anticipation of the positive impact the 'Community Wellness Advocate' program will have on the society. The team is grateful for the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the volunteers and eagerly await the kickstart of this program.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming initiatives. The team looks forward to welcoming more socially conscious volunteers and learning from their rich tapestry of life experiences.
